A Home Away
From Home for patients and families of Glens Falls
Hospital and nearby facilities, Amanda's House provides a
temporary home for patients and their families who have
traveled a distance to be treated at Glens Falls Hospital or
other facilities within a five-mile radius of Amanda's
House. There is no charge to stay at the house.
The house has three bedrooms
and two bathrooms. The downstairs, which has one bedroom
and a bathroom, as well as the house kitchen, dining and
living rooms, is handicap accessible. Bed linens and
towels are provided as well as clothes washer and dryer.
There is phone service available for our guests.
Amanda's House is located just a few blocks from Glens Falls Hospital at 22 Henry Street, Glens Falls. Click here for a map. Finch, Pruyn & Co. owns the house and made it available to the Amanda's House committee. For 10 months, the old house underwent major renovations. Every weekend, volunteers, both professional and amateur, would show up and give of their time and talent. Most of the materials and all of the labor was donated. The furnishings and appliances were purchased by different organizations and individuals who 'adopted' a room. Those staying at Amanda's House can prepare meals in its bright, clean kitchen. Amanda's House is supported by generous donations from the community and guests of the house.
